LOCATION OF POSITION MDH Fiscal Services Administration, Baltimore MD

Main Purpose of Job This position functions as the Chief of General Accounting and is responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate and systematic processing and recording of accounting data to ensure compliance with the Annotated Code of Maryland, Code of Maryland Regulations, control agencies (i.e., Comptroller of the Treasury, State Treasurer, etc.) policy and procedures and the Maryland Department of Health's policies and procedures while maintaining adequate internal control to safeguard State assets and confidential information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting and five (5) years of experience working in an accounting or financial unit, including three (3) years of supervisory experience in an accounting or financial environment.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Training fiscal/accounting staff
• Developing, reviewing and implementing policies and procedures and practices
• Month-End and Year-End processing
