Job summary

Baltimore City is seeking a Chief of Bridges and Structures to lead the Department of Transportation’s bridge and structural infrastructure program. You will oversee planning, design, construction, inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation of City-owned bridges and related structures, manage a portfolio of capital projects, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering, 10 years of experience with 5 in leadership, and experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Ten years in engineering or infrastructure project delivery.
• Five years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Equivalency of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge and structural projects from planning to construction.
• Develop a multi-year capital program for rehabilitations and replacements.
• Coordinate with FHWA, MDOT SHA and other agencies on federal funding.
• Evaluate delivery methods like Design-Build and CMAR.
• Oversee bridge inspection, load rating, maintenance, and asset management.
• Direct division staff and manage budgets, procurement, and contracts.
