Job summary

Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) seeks a Vice President for Ocean Conservation to lead a high-impact program dedicated to restoring and protecting New England’s ocean and biodiversity.

The role directs a 10+ member team, shapes strategy, builds partnerships, and works across law, policy, science, and campaigns to maximize CLF’s impact from Boston with flexible remote options within New England.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in ocean law and policy.
• Law degree and active bar membership in good standing in a New England state.
• Experience applying core ocean conservation statutes such as the Magnuson-Stevens Act, Endangered Species Act, MMPA, and Antiquities Act is desirable.
• Strong leadership and people management experience.
• Demonstrated success navigating complex policy and programmatic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the vision and strategy for CLF's Ocean Conservation work, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Practice inclusive management to support team members and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
• Build partnerships with communities most impacted by issues and CLF actions to maximize impact.
• Collaborate with development to identify philanthropic support, prepare grant proposals and budgets.
• Assist Finance in developing and managing an annual ocean program budget (~$1.8M).
• Coordinate with communications for campaign plans and outreach to diverse audiences.
• Represent CLF before partner communities, public officials, supporters, and stakeholders.
