One Physics seeks a Chief Therapy Medical Physicist to lead the Indianapolis physics program while staying clinically engaged and guiding the dosimetry team. Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Medical Physics.
  • ABR Therapeutic Medical Physics board certification or CAMPEP residency eligibility.
  • 5+ years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics with leadership experience preferred.

The Role

We are searching for a highly skilled, compassionate Chief Therapy Medical Physicist to serve as the clinical and operational leader of our Indianapolis physics program. The Chief will remain clinically engaged while leading the physics and dosimetry team, partnering closely with Radiation Oncology leadership, and supporting the continued development of the program. Physicists are supported by a dynamic support team known for a focus on building partnerships and a passion for excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Direct and supervise the medical physics team, dosimetrists, and physics assistants. Manage clinical workflows, assign coverage across treatment facilities, and drive professional development, residency training, or continuing education.
  • Oversee complex treatment technology (e.g., linear accelerators, CT simulators, HDR brachytherapy, surface-guided radiotherapy). Establish daily, monthly, and annual QA programs following AAPM Task Group guidelines.
  • Partner with Radiation Oncologists, Therapists, Health System Executives, and Vendor Engineers to optimize clinical efficiency, manage capital budgets for technology purchases, and ensure patient safety standards across all care sites
  • Monitor equipment in the Radiation Oncology Department to ensure that it is functioning correctly and safely.
  • Maintain regulatory agency records and reports.
  • Analyze alternative treatment plans and supervise dosimetry treatment planning functions.
  • Perform additional duties, as needed.
Clinic Information:
  • This position is based in Indianapolis.
  • This role is supported by 2 other physicists, 3 dosimetrists and 4 Radiation Oncologists.
  • The facility is equipped with 2 linear accelerators, both equipped with Brainlab ExacTrac Dynamic, Varian TrueBeam, Varian Edge, Brainlab Elements Planning System for Stereotactic planning, Varian Eclipse and Aria, Radformation tools like auto contour, ClearCheck, ClearCalc, and EZFluence.
  • Active HDR Brachytherapy program using Elekta Flexitron HDR and Oncentra planning System
  • Excellent facility with amazing staff and Radiation Oncologists!
What You’ll Need
  • Master’s Degree and/or PhD in Medical Physics.
  • A board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or board eligibility as demonstrated by graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency in therapy physics.
  • 5+ years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics experience preferred, with demonstrated leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations.
  • A willingness to go “above and beyond” for clients and fellow colleagues.
  • Demonstrate initiative, organization, and ownership of daily tasks and projects.
  • Ability to problem solve by seeking, developing, and implementing viable solutions.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires ability to use and move equipment.
  • Requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, carrying.
  • Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to radiation therapy setting.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work.
