Job summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical strategy, quality improvement, and physician engagement. The role directs performance improvement, patient safety, and medical staff collaboration across the hospital and affiliated services.

The CMO will partner with hospital leadership to advance Mercy's mission of delivering compassionate, high-value care, while guiding strategic priorities and organizational excellence in a regional healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Board certification in a recognized specialty.
• Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience as a Medical Director, Department Chair, Chief of Staff, or other physician executive.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical governance, quality improvement, and medical management.
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.

• Provide strategic oversight of clinical operations and medical directors.
• Lead quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
