Job summary
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) seeks a Medical Director for the Forensic Services Division in Vinita, Oklahoma. This role provides authoritative medical and forensic oversight to multidisciplinary teams delivering competency restoration services, including JBCR.
The successful candidate will have senior clinical leadership in forensic psychiatry, knowledge of competency standards, restoration processes, and related legal requirements, and may
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with a valid state medical license
- Minimum 5 years of progressive clinical leadership in forensic, correctional, or state hospital settings
- Experience developing clinical policies, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives
- Board certification in psychiatry with forensic subspecialty preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical governance and strategic direction for forensic mental health services
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams delivering competency restoration services including JBCR
- Ensure compliance with legal standards and applicable statutes
- Contribute to clinical care for a forensic population as needed
