Job summary

okgov is seeking an Assistant Director of Forensic Psychology in Vinita, OK, a statewide leadership role guiding forensic mental health services. Lead a multidisciplinary team, supervise multiple psychology staff, and shape evaluations and treatments across the state.

The role requires a Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with forensic specialization, active licensure, and substantial post-doctoral experience. In-person, full-time leadership with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited).
• Post-doctoral specialized training in forensic evaluations or treatment.
• Licensure as a psychologist (at least 2 years).
• Experience with forensic evaluations and expert testimony.

Responsibilities

• Direct reports to facility medical director.
• Supervise a minimum of 5 psychologist direct reports.
• Supervise therapeutic team leads (NGRI and Restoration).
• Oversee inpatient observation/evaluation processes.
• Oversee court-ordered in-person competency evaluations.
• Manage completion and timeliness of risk assessments.

About the Facility

The Oklahoma Forensic Center is the largest inpatient behavioral health facility within ODMHSAS and the state's only inpatient forensic hospital, serving all 77 counties.

Location: Vinita, Oklahoma (approximately 60 miles northeast of Tulsa)

Capacity: 268 beds

Population Served: Individuals found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity

Mission: Deliver quality forensic evaluations and effective psychiatric treatment in a therapeutic environment that preserves public safety

What You Do

This is more than a clinical role-it's a statewide leadership position. As Assistant Director, you will:

• Direct reports to facility medical director
• Supervise a minimum of 5 psychologist direct reports
• Supervise therapeutic team leads (2): NGRI and Restoration
• These leads oversee
• Psychoeducation groups
• Recreation functions
• Restoration programming/education
• Patient therapy and case management needs
• Work directly with NGRI and Restoration program directors
• Oversees inpatient observation and evaluation processes
• Oversees court ordered in person competency evaluations
• Oversees and manages completion and timeliness per facility policy for all risk assessments

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited)
• Completion of a 1-year pre-doctoral internship, including direct supervision from a licensed psychologist specializing in clinical or counseling psychology
• Minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral specialized training in the evaluation and/or treatment of forensic clients
• At least 2 years of licensure as a psychologist
• Demonstrated experience in forensic evaluations and expert testimony

Special Requirements:

• Preferred PsyD and/or Forensic Board Certification
• Successful completion of OSBI background check
• Pre-employment drug screen required
