An established industry player is seeking a Chief Marketing and Communications Officer to lead bold innovation and storytelling in nursing. This executive role involves redefining brand identity and member engagement strategies while driving transformational change within a dedicated team. The position offers the chance to influence global perceptions and engage with diverse audiences, from Gen Z nurses to seasoned professionals. If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and operational leadership, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the nursing profession.
Indianapolis, Indiana, Elevate the Voice of Global Nursing Leadership with Sigma
Join an organization that doesn’t just talk about excellence—we set the global standard. As Sigma Nursing enters its second century of impact, we’re seeking a Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) to lead the next chapter of bold innovation, global connection, and mission-driven storytelling. This is more than a senior-level role—it’s an opportunity to shape the voice of a century-strong organization at the forefront of nursing leadership and advocacy worldwide.
As a member of Sigma’s executive leadership team, the CMCO will serve as the strategic architect behind a reimagined brand identity, member engagement strategy, and global communications framework. This leader will champion cross-functional initiatives that unite our diverse community, inspire the next generation of nurses, and elevate Sigma’s impact on a global stage. We are looking for a passionate executive with deep association experience who believes marketing should ignite imagination, not just meet metrics—and who thrives at the intersection of heart, strategy, and innovation.
A Day in the Life
Your days will never be the same—but they will be meaningful. You’ll partner directly with the CEO, the Chief Volunteer and Engagement Officer (your executive-level “bestie”), and a committed leadership team to redefine how the world sees Sigma and the nursing profession. You’ll lead an in-house marketing and communications team through a period of transformational change, driving alignment across social media, newsletters, brand campaigns, merchandise, and PR initiatives. You’ll take the lead on signature events and global campaigns, including an elevated strategy for National Nurses Week, showcasing the authentic, diverse faces of nursing through powerful storytelling. You’ll own the voice of Sigma—building trust, credibility, and relevance with audiences ranging from new Gen Z nurses to long-standing legacy members to external partners across the globe.
This role calls for equal parts strategy, creativity, and operational leadership. You’ll be entrusted to evaluate and evolve our marketing tech stack, build an internal structure that empowers your team to thrive, and establish clear KPIs that reflect growth, innovation, and connection. Whether you’re leading a rebrand, launching a TikTok campaign, partnering with membership on Gen Z retention, or developing an op-ed for The New York Times, your work will have visibility, purpose, and global reach.
