Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Executive Director of Information Technology for the Cockrell School of Engineering. This leadership role guides the IT group to align technology with research and teaching missions, coordinating across campus and industry partnerships.

The position oversees IT operations, budget management, vendor contracts, and cybersecurity governance while advising senior leaders and shaping a multi-year IT roadmap within a large, public research university

Qualifications

• Progressive information technology leadership experience including staff, budgeting and vendor management.
• Experience leading a broad technology organization spanning multiple areas such as applications, data, infrastructure and cybersecurity.
• Ability to advise senior executives and communicate complex tech issues to nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Define vision, goals, and multi-year IT roadmap to support research and teaching missions.
• Oversee IT operations including system administration, networking, desktops, and servers.
• Manage ITG budget, vendor contracts, procurement, and compliance with security standards.
• Advise the dean on IT matters and represent CSE on university IT committees.
• Lead IT governance and project prioritization across CSE.
