The area of focus will be overseeing daily construction operations, ensuring contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements. This role involves managing inspection staff, reviewing and delivering daily inspection reports, and monitoring contractor performance, schedule adherence, and overall responsiveness. The Chief Inspector will work closely with contractors to maintain project goals related to cost, schedule, and quality while also serving as a liaison to design staff to address RFIs, review shop drawings, and assess project changes for constructability. Additionally, the Chief Inspector will oversee the office staff responsible for record-keeping, correspondence, and reporting, as well as managing the contractor payment process, recommending adjustments as necessary. Ensuring overall site safety, permit compliance, and coordination with agencies and stakeholders is a key responsibility. Other oversight duties may be assigned as needed.
Candidates shall have knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, strong communication skills, documentation control, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and to perform quantity takeoffs/calculations.
