Job summary

Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) in Illinois seeks a senior public service administrator to serve as the Government & Public Employees (GPE) Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO). This role directs policy, strategy, and IT services across multiple state agencies and leads a large IT workforce.

Ideal candidate will have 4+ years supervising IT professionals, strong MIS/IT skills, and experience shaping departmental policies. Hybrid work available; primary location in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with coursework in management information systems, information technology, computer science or directly related fields.
• Requires four (4) years college with coursework in MIS/IT/CS OR related fields as part of minimum qualifications.
• Requires four (4) years of professional experience supervising IT professionals in a large and complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO) and policy formulating official for the Government & Public Employees Group for the DoIT and supporting agencies.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for long and short term strategic goals of the GPE Group.
• Directs and coordinates IT services across state agencies via subordinate leadership.
