The Chief Information and Technology Officer is a cabinet-level executive leading the Florida Department of Education's technology strategy and transformation. The role oversees the Division of Technology and Innovation and is accountable for retiring the Department's mainframe systems, implementing cloud infrastructure, and scaling artificial intelligence across the agency while maintaining security and student privacy. Success is measured by executing a funded modernization program, establishing a production-ready AI capability, improving service reliability and security, and rebuilding a technology organization that attracts and retains modern engineering talent.

Key qualifications:

• Cabinet-level technology leadership experience with enterprise modernization and mainframe system retirement
• Proven ability to manage large-scale, multi-year technology programs with cross-organizational governance
• Experience with AI governance, risk frameworks, and responsible AI deployment in regulated environments
• Cloud architecture and cloud-first policy implementation experience
• Demonstrated success attracting and retaining modern engineering, data, and product talent
• Knowledge of education systems, FERPA compliance, cybersecurity (Chapter 60GG), and public sector IT operations
