Job summary

The University of Washington School of Medicine seeks its next Vice Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official (VDGME/DIO). This leadership role sits at the nexus of medical education, healthcare delivery, and workforce development across WWAMI and UW Medicine’s regional enterprise.

The successful candidate will oversee GME programs, lead accreditation efforts, and partner with senior leadership to modernize training, harness new technologies, and advance a culture

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MD-PhD with graduate training and board certification in a medical/surgical specialty.
• Minimum of ten years of experience in an integrated clinical, research, and learning health system.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Office of Graduate Medical Education and guidance for UW SoM GME programs.
• Chair GMEC, coordinate with program directors and department chairs, and oversee accreditation activities including upcoming renewal in 2028.
• Strengthen partnerships across clinical enterprise, advance innovative education, and ensure regulatory compliance and educational quality.
