Job summary

LyondellBasell in Houston is seeking a Global Head of Litigation to lead the company’s worldwide litigation and arbitration docket, providing strategic leadership and risk assessment across regions. Based in Houston, you will report to the Deputy General Counsel and build a high-performing function.

You will work with legal leadership, regional teams, and outside counsel to manage high-stakes matters, develop governance, and advise senior management on strategy, budgets and resolution options.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with significant litigation and dispute-resolution experience.
• 15+ years post-qualification in a major firm or corporation.
• Experience managing disputes across multiple jurisdictions.
• Cross-border litigation and international arbitration experience preferred.
• Experience in chemical, energy or engineering industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead global litigation strategy and oversight across regions and jurisdictions.
• Analyze complex legal and strategic issues in disputes globally.
• Prepare litigation analyses and present recommendations to senior leadership.
• Coordinate with regional leaders to identify litigation trends and improve readiness.
• Manage outside counsel and control legal spend.
• Develop and implement global litigation governance and matter-management practices.
• Provide strategic legal advice on pre-dispute matters and cross-border risk.
• Lead and develop litigation attorneys and staff.
