Job summary

Physician Pivot seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Chief Medical Investigator for the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) in Albuquerque. The Chief reports to UNM leadership and collaborates with law enforcement, the judiciary, and the Department of Health.

Role includes clinical forensic pathology practice and high-level administrative duties. Requirements include MD/DO with board certification in forensic pathology, a minimum of 6 years in clinical practice, and at least 3

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent required; ABPath certification in anatomic and forensic pathology preferred.
• Associate Professor or Professor in UNM Pathology commensurate with experience.
• Minimum 6 years in clinical forensic pathology.
• At least 3 years in operational leadership within a medical examiner’s office.

Responsibilities

• Perform postmortem examinations and provide testimony in criminal and civil courts.
• Oversee all administrative matters: planning, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, accreditation.
• Develop and implement long-range plans; supervise education of fellows, residents, and students.
