Job summary

The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, seeks an accomplished Chief Medical Investigator for the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) in Albuquerque. The leader reports to the Board for OMI affairs via the Dean and Pathology Chair, collaborating with law enforcement and health representatives.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent degree required.
• Board certification in anatomic and forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
• Qualified for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor in UNM Pathology.
• Minimum 6 years of clinical practice in forensic pathology.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience within a medical examiner's office.

Responsibilities

• Perform postmortem examinations and provide testimony in criminal and civil courts.
• Oversee administrative matters including planning, staffing, budgeting, scheduling and accreditation.
• Lead total operations of the OMI and develop long-range plans.
• Supervise and instruct fellows, residents, students and investigators.
