Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking a Chief Financial Officer for a purpose-driven nonprofit in Waterford, CT. The role reports to the CEO, partners with the executive leadership team, and interacts with the Board to shape financial strategy and governance.

You will lead all financial operations, oversee grants and audits, and build a high-performing finance function that supports mission-driven growth and sustainability. CPA preferred; bachelor's in accounting/finance required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• Significant financial leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit environments.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
• Experience presenting to executives and boards; CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and controls.
• Develop and execute financial strategies supporting sustainability and growth.
• Present performance and insights to executive leadership and the Board.
• Oversee nonprofit compliance, grants and restricted funds, and annual audits.
• Mentor finance team and partner with departments on budgeting and resource planning.

Key Responsibilities for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO):
