Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary:

As a member of the District Leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the District. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the District. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, billing, strategic financial planning, Patient Navigator, Care Coordination team, payroll, accounts payable, treasury, and full revenue cycle outsourced.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall financial operations of the acute-care facility to include accounting, budgetary, audits, tax, and other financial planning activities within the hospital organization; including management of respective department heads.
  • Working with system management to develop and implement policies and procedures, short- and long-range goals, objectives and plans.
  • Providing financial leadership to hospital managers, directors and officers that will enroll support, create ownership of goals, and encourage active participation in decisions that impact the hospital.
  • Ensuring the hospital meets necessary financial regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Contributing financial expertise in the planning of new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue.
  • Managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs in conjunction with the hospital's Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Analyzing areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Responsible for payer contracting and contract reviews.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on capital RFP's and contract negotiations.
  • Representing the hospital at meetings including medical staff, hospital board of director meetings as well as relevant community meetings as needed.
  • Participating in the hospital's monthly operation reviews and administrative team meetings.
  • Responsible for the administrative aspects of leading the department/team to include budgeting, time approvals, staff evaluations and expense approvals.
  • Interaction and presentations to the Board on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Previous CFO level or equivalent experience within a Critical Access Hospital environment required.
  • Previous experience within a non-profit environment.
  • Minimum 5 years or the equivalent of financial/accounting progressive managerial experience in a Critical Access Hospital environment.
  • Experience with Revenue Cycle and track record of success required.
  • Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Masters level education and CPA preferred.
Wage: $150,000-$180,000 DOE
