Qualifications

  • Significant experience in real estate development, construction or related complex projects.
  • Experience overseeing accounting for multiple entities, lines of business, or operating divisions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple financial audits with external auditors.
  • Strong understanding of complex accounting, financial controls, and multi‑faceted reporting.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and providing financial guidance on major decisions.
  • CPA or advanced degree is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and annual close processes and ensure timely financial information.
  • Oversee multiple financial audits, working with external auditors from planning to completion.
  • Lead complex financial reporting and analysis across entities, projects, and divisions.
  • Oversee cash management, banking relationships, debt, and other financial obligations.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Provide financial oversight for real estate development, construction, acquisitions, capital projects, and major transactions.
  • Evaluate project economics, financing structures, and financial risks.
  • Partner with internal teams, lenders, investors, developers, auditors, legal advisors.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting and finance team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, controls, and efficiency.
  • Participate in organization-wide strategic planning and major business decisions.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to provide financial leadership for a complex organization with multiple business lines, entities, revenue streams, and ongoing real estate development and construction activity.

This is a hands-on executive leadership opportunity for a finance professional who can navigate complex accounting environments, lead a high-performing team, and provide financial insight to senior leadership. The CFO will play a key role in strategic decision-making while overseeing accounting, audit, controls, treasury, and financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial leadership and serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership.

  • Experience overseeing accounting for multiple entities, business lines, revenue streams, or operating divisions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple financial audits and managing external audit relationships.
  • Strong understanding of complex accounting, financial controls, and multi-faceted financial reporting.
  • Experience working directly with executive leadership and providing financial guidance on significant business decisions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with real estate development, construction finance, acquisitions, refinancing, or complex capital projects.
  • Experience managing accounting for a diverse portfolio of assets, projects, or operating entities.
  • Experience with ERP and financial management systems.
  • CPA or advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
