  • Demonstrated public company experience (NYSE OR NASDAQ experience required) , including U.S. GAAP , securities reporting, external audits, internal controls, and SOX implementation or oversight.
  • Proven experience presenting to Boards and Audit Committees, managing lender relationships, and supporting capital raising or significant financing transactions.
  • Strong operating finance background in a complex, multisite business with inventory, production, and capital-intensive operations; cultivation, agriculture, manufacturing, consumer products, or comparable experience preferred.
  • Experience in cannabis or another highly regulated industry preferred, with the ability to learn and navigate cannabis-specific financial, banking, and tax complexities.
  • Demonstrated success improving cash flow, forecasting, cost visibility, financial processes, and team capabilities. Experience with joint ventures, acquisitions, and integration preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Executive Partnership
  • Develop and execute the financial strategy in alignment with the Company’s business objectives; advise the CEO and Board on growth, capital allocation, financing, and financial risk.
  • Lead annual budgets, multiyear plans, rolling forecasts, and scenario analysis; establish clear assumptions, accountability, and actions for addressing performance gaps.
  • Provide decision support for expansion, automation, infrastructure, product and channel strategy, organizational changes, and other significant investments.
  • Present financial results and recommendations to the Board and executive team, explaining business drivers, tradeoffs, and implications in practical terms.

  • Oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, consolidated financial statements, management reporting, and financial disclosures under U.S. GAAP and applicable reporting requirements.
  • Lead the financial components of U.S. and Canadian securities filings and stock exchange reporting obligations in coordination with Legal, Investor Relations, and external advisors.
  • Oversee technical accounting, consolidation, joint venture and investment accounting, revenue recognition, inventory valuation, leases, equity compensation, and significant transactions.
  • Manage external audit relationships and audit readiness; resolve accounting issues promptly and communicate significant judgments and findings to the Audit Committee.
  • Fulfill principal financial officer responsibilities, including applicable certificates, supported by documented review and effective disclosure processes.
Internal Controls and Governance
  • Lead the design, implementation, documentation, and ongoing evaluation of internal control over financial reporting and financial disclosure controls, including applicable Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Coordinate management’s control assessment, testing, and remediation; assign accountable owners and report deficiencies, remediation progress, and emerging risks to the CEO and Audit Committee.
  • Establish effective financial policies, approval authorities, segregation of duties, and controls over purchasing, payments, cash, inventory, financial systems access, and related-party transactions.
  • Partner with Legal, operating leaders, and the Audit Committee on financial compliance and enterprise risk; support independent audit activities without compromising their independence.
