Job summary

YWCA Central Virginia seeks an experienced, mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter, serving as the chief executive and primary ambassador with the Board, staff, donors, funders, and community partners.

The role focuses on strengthening culture, financial sustainability, grant compliance, and strategic direction for programs serving women, children, and families across Central Virginia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, accountability, and mission-driven leadership.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and public communication skills.
• Experience leading organizations through transformation and building stakeholder trust.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with high confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic goals with the Board of Directors.
• Lead day-to-day operations: programs, finance, HR, facilities, communications, compliance.
• Build and sustain a high-performing leadership team with clear accountability.
• Provide timely reports to the Board on programs, finances, risks, and priorities.
• Lead fundraising strategy with foundations, corporations, government funding, and donors.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, grant, and organizational requirements.
