Job summary

Rosendin is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead the division's estimating program in a fast‑paced construction environment in Texas. The role directs estimating procedures, bids, and client presentations while coordinating with executives, project teams and management to meet corporate objectives.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years of facility construction estimating experience, with strong proficiency in estimating systems, MS Office, and leadership

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business‑related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in facility construction estimating and related functions.

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise the division's estimating program.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments and bid archives.
  • Assist executives and project teams in determining bid opportunities and strategies.
  • Review final estimate packages for accuracy before quotation.
  • Review scope letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Present to management and clients; may close sales.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders.
  • Support studies, materials and cost estimates as required.
  • Other duties aligned with the business unit requirements.

Chief Estimator

The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results and archives.
  • Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures utilizing the corporate computer estimating system and database.
  • Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management in determining which projects to bid on, along with strategies and techniques.
  • Review all final estimate packages for accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
  • Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients; may be responsible for closing the sale.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc., as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on the position role within the business unit.
What you’ll need to be successful
  • Advanced management or technical training preferred.
  • Organizational, supervisory, and decision‑making/problem‑solving skills essential.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Familiar with modern computer estimating systems.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and change priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure, continual deadlines and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated and can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.

What you bring to us
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business‑related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in similar facility construction estimating and related functions, with a thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts.
  • Combination of education and technical/field training such as Engineering or Estimating experience.
Travel
  • Up to 10% or as required.
Working Conditions
  • General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the job site.
