Job summary

Rosendin is seeking an estimator to prepare comprehensive project estimates from quantity take‑offs, review specs and drawings, and lead sub‑estimating efforts. You will collaborate with project teams, identify value‑engineering opportunities, and ensure all bid data is consistent and backed by solid documentation.

The role requires 4+ years in construction estimating, proficiency with Accubid or similar software, and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare estimates from quantity take‑off and produce complete computer printouts.
  • Identify key project parts that enable competitive estimates.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre‑bid meetings to determine scope and required estimate contents.
  • Evaluate areas for potential value‑engineering cost savings.
  • Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub‑estimates for assigned bids.
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back‑up estimate figures.
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data.
  • Prepare detailed listings of material and equipment items and obtain quotes.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors, solicit quotes, and review for completeness and compliance.
  • Ensure timely completion of all client‑required documents.
  • Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing before issuing the formal bid package.
  • After a successful bid, meet with Project Management to explain job scope, potential attention areas, and transition aspects.
  • Maintain files of all working documents, backing up estimate figures, and update the Rosendin approved estimating program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the business unit.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful

  • Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Proficient in using a computer, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and estimating software.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Be self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Interact professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
What You Bring To Us
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of estimating or related experience in closing construction estimates.
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
  • Experience with CAD or 3D software preferred.
  • A combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

Working Conditions
  • General work environment: sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; primarily indoors.
  • Weather: varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level: typically low to medium, can be loud on a job site.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
