The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) seeks a seasoned Environmental Program Administrator Supervisor in Topeka. Qualifications

• Eight years of direct experience in an environmental program/project.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Serves as KDOT’s Chief Environmental Officer, providing expert guidance to management on state and federal environmental requirements, legislation, and the environmental impacts of transportation programs and projects.
• Represents KDOT on environmental matters, including public hearings, interagency initiatives, court proceedings, and responses to environmental inquiries and concerns.
• Plans, directs and monitors “in-house” environmental investigations and reviews and landscape requirements for transportation projects located through the state.
• Serves as Section’s administrative officer. Direct and schedule work of unit so that programs will coincide with the schedule of the general highway program.
• Responsible for evaluations and training of unit personnel.
• Coordinates various landscape activities and environmental phases of KDOT projects with appropriate federal and state agencies and local governmental units to allow early input and to provide project location and design data to involved agencies as required by state and federal laws.
