Job summary

Parallax Space, Inc. seeks a Head of Engineering to lead the company’s technical organization, engineering execution, and product development strategy as we scale from early product development into repeatable flight systems and production.

The leader will manage systems, mechanical, electrical, avionics, software, test, and mission hardware development, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or related field.
• 12+ years engineering experience in aerospace/defense/high-reliability hardware.
• 5+ years engineering leadership managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven track record delivering complex hardware from concept through flight.
• Deep understanding of systems engineering and full lifecycle execution.
• Experience building scalable engineering organizations and processes.
• Strong technical judgment across multidisciplinary hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale all engineering disciplines across systems, mechanical, electrical, avionics, software, test, and mission hardware.
• Build a high-performing engineering organization for rapid product development and mission execution.
• Define structure, hiring plans, roadmaps, and leadership responsibilities.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
• Establish ownership culture, accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.
• Develop engineering career progression and leadership development.
