Job summary

Parallax Space, Inc. seeks a mid-to-senior Avionics & Electrical Power Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and qualify electrical power systems for spacecraft and payloads.

This role owns power architecture, distribution, and battery design across the full product lifecycle. The engineer will translate mission requirements into reliable, manufacturable power systems, size batteries and power-distribution hardware, review schematics, and support hardware through procurement, build,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years designing electrical power systems, batteries, or related high‑reliability hardware.
  • Experience with spacecraft, satellite, payload, or defense electrical systems.
  • Understanding of power architecture, distribution, conversion, regulation, switching, and fault management.
  • Hands-on battery sizing, cell/pack selection, charging, discharging, protection, and integration.
  • Experience creating power budgets, load profiles, interfaces, and system trade studies.
  • Experience drafting schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and electrical design documentation.
  • Experience with lab equipment: power supplies, loads, oscilloscopes, meters, DAQ, power analyzers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work hands-on in fast-paced development; able to obtain U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end electrical power system architectures for spacecraft and payloads.
  • Own power budgets, energies, and margins; size batteries and distribution hardware.
  • Design and develop power distribution units and DC‑DC converters.
  • Support hardware through design reviews, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Coordinate with avionics, software, systems, and mission operations teams.
  • Lead troubleshooting of power anomalies; perform verification and qualification tasks.
  • Create and review schematics, interfaces, and electrical design documentation.
  • Ensure designs meet internal standards and mission assurance practices.
