Job summary

Parallax Space, Inc. seeks a Head of Engineering to lead the company’s technical organization, drive product development strategy, and scale from early development to repeatable flight systems and production.

The role oversees systems, mechanical, electrical, avionics, software, test, and mission hardware; combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution to deliver mission-ready, manufacturable systems for commercial and national security customers.

Qualifications

• 12+ years engineering experience in aerospace, defense, spacecraft, launch, or other high-reliability hardware environments.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale all engineering disciplines including systems, mechanical, electrical, avionics, software, test, integration, and mission hardware development.
• Define organizational structure, hiring plans, capability roadmaps, and technical leadership responsibilities.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and major trade studies across spacecraft systems and mission hardware.
• Oversee engineering execution from concept through design, build, integration, testing, qualification, and flight readiness; ensure on-time delivery.
• Build scalable engineering processes for requirements management, configuration control, release management, and cross-functional coordination.
