Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr Scientist, Business Chief Engineer for Space Superiority and Imaging. The role leads technical strategy and execution for national, civil, and commercial space systems, overseeing R&D from roadmap to technology insertion.

Responsibilities include driving innovation in optics, electronics, and mechanical assemblies while mentoring staff and aligning with division roadmaps. Requires TS/SCI and extensive EO/IR payload experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science with 15+ years related experience; graduate degree with 13+ years; in lieu of a degree, 19+ years
• 3+ years of functional management experience leading a large multi-disciplinary team (>50 resources)
• Professional experience with EO/IR space payloads
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on optical, electrical, and mechanical assemblies and drive consistency across roadmaps and architectures
• Develop execution plans for R&D projects aligned with technology roadmaps and business strategy
• Mentor lower-level engineers to grow SMEs and leaders
• Identify emerging technologies and opportunities for technology insertion
• Interface with universities and industrial partners for collaboration
• Drive innovation in multi-disciplinary technical competencies and on-board processing
