Job summary

Claremont Companies is seeking a Chief Engineer for the Residence Inn Boston Downtown/Seaport. Located in Boston, MA, the role supervises maintenance operations across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building systems to keep the property safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of the hotel’s physical structure, guest areas and equipment.
• Hire, train, supervise, and discipline staff and contractors under property operations.
• Oversee mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain organized tools, inventory, and administrative systems.
• Assign and monitor routine maintenance in public spaces and guest areas.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety and purchasing policies.
• Manage energy efficiency programs and train staff on safe equipment use.
• Report maintenance needs and costs to the General Manager.
• Oversee repairs and renovations to offices, public spaces, and guest areas.
• Adhere to corporate purchasing controls and vendor bids.
• Maintain supplies and equipment for day-to-day operations.
• Keep subcontractor agreements and service provider contracts up to date.
• Foster a positive work atmosphere with guests, vendors, and staff.
• Lead the overall preventive maintenance program for all hotel systems.
