Job summary

HHM Hotels is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead hotel maintenance, ensuring guest comfort and sustainability across the property.

You will supervise engineering staff, manage vendor contracts, oversee small projects, and ensure critical systems function reliably. A strong HVAC background and leadership experience are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience required.
• HVAC certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee maintenance and repair activities to meet guest service standards and sustainability goals.
• Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for 3rd party vendors.
• Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report progress.
• Perform and supervise diverse technical repairs (sheetrock, painting, furniture refinishing, electrical/plumbing fixtures).
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment; service HVAC and climate control systems.
• Maintain PM records for all rooms and equipment and test life safety systems.
• Coordinate compliance of service contracts with local, state, and federal codes.
• Maintain building exterior and curb appeal per EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Promote safe work habits following MSDS and OSHA standards to boost guest satisfaction.

Opportunity: Chief Engineer

Manage general and preventative maintenance functions to ensure guest service and sustainability standards are achieved and maintained throughout the hotel structure.

Area Chief Engineer – Regional Director of Engineering

Your Focus

• Leadership: Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure they perform in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.


• Financial and Vendor Oversight: Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for 3rd party vendors.


• Project Management: Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.


• Technical Repairs: Perform and oversee diverse tasks including sheetrock repair, painting, furniture refinishing, and the replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures.


• Equipment and Systems: Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair heating/cooling pumps. You will also install and program televisions.


• Preventative Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of PMs on all rooms and equipment; test and maintain life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational.


• Compliance: Coordinate compliance of service contracts and ensure all work meets local, state, and Federal codes.


• Operations: Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal while following EarthView sustainability guidelines.


• Safety and Service: Practice safe work habits following MSDS and OSHA standards while working to increase guest satisfaction scores.

Your Background and Skills

• High School diploma and/or trade school coursework in a related field is preferred.


• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience (or equivalent training) is required.


• HVAC certification is required.


• Other certifications may be required based on local needs.

Work Environment and Context

• Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends or alternate shifts.


• Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling or crouching.
