Job summary

Hyatt Regency Bethesda near Washington, DC is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance and sustainability across the hotel. You will lead a team, interview and train staff, manage vendor bids and contracts, and drive small capital projects to protect guest comfort and safety.

You will troubleshoot HVAC and kitchen systems, perform preventative maintenance, maintain PM records, ensure life safety systems are 100% operational, and coordinate compliance with local, state, and federal codes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trade school coursework preferred.
• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience required.
• HVAC certification required.
• Other certifications may be required based on local needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance team and coach staff to meet brand standards and HHM values.
• Manage bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors.
• Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report progress.
• Perform and oversee repairs including sheetrock, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of fixtures.
• Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair heating/cooling pumps; install/program televisions.
• Maintain PM records on all rooms and equipment; test and maintain life safety systems.
• Coordinate compliance of service contracts with local, state, and Federal codes.
• Maintain exterior and curb appeal while following EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Practice safe work habits per MSDS and OSHA to boost guest satisfaction.

Your Focus

• Leadership: Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure they perform in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.
• Financial and Vendor Oversight: Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for 3rd party vendors.
• Project Management: Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.

Your Background And Skills

• Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends or alternate shifts.
