Job summary

HHM Hotels is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead maintenance operations across the property, ensuring guest comfort and sustainability. You will supervise staff, manage vendor contracts, and oversee small capital projects to elevate the guest experience.

The role requires HVAC certification and a track record of supervising engineering or maintenance teams. Expect diverse duties from equipment repair to life-safety testing, with a focus on safety and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or trade school training.
• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience is required.
• HVAC certification is required; other certifications may be required by local needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach maintenance staff to meet brand standards and HHM values.
• Manage bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors.
• Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans and report on progress.
• Perform and supervise repairs including sheetrock, painting, furniture refinishing, and fixtures replacement.
• Troubleshoot kitchen equipment; repair heating/cooling pumps; install and program televisions.
• Maintain PM records for all rooms and equipment; test life safety systems.
• Coordinate service contracts and ensure compliance with codes (local, state, federal).
• Maintain exterior and curb appeal following EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Uphold safety standards per MSDS and OSHA to improve guest satisfaction.

Area Chief Engineer - Regional Director of Engineering

Your Focus

• Leadership: Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure they perform in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.
• Financial and Vendor Oversight: Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for 3rd party vendors.
• Project Management: Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.
• Technical Repairs: Perform and oversee diverse tasks including sheetrock repair, painting, furniture refinishing, and the replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures.
• Equipment and Systems: Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair heating/cooling pumps. You will also install and program televisions.
• Preventative Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of PMs on all rooms and equipment; test and maintain life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational.
• Compliance: Coordinate compliance of service contracts and ensure all work meets local, state, and Federal codes.
• Operations: Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal while following EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Safety and Service: Practice safe work habits following MSDS and OSHA standards while working to increase guest satisfaction scores.

Your Background and Skills

• High School diploma and/or trade school coursework in a related field is preferred.
• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience (or equivalent training) is required.
• HVAC certification is required.
• Other certifications may be required based on local needs.

Work Environment and Context

• Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends or alternate shifts.
• Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling or crouching.
