Tom Trese is seeking a Maintenance Chief Engineer for a commercial laundry operation in the Gary, IN area. The role leads the maintenance department to manage daily repairs, preventive maintenance, and training of the team to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

The Chief Engineer oversees vendor services, regulatory compliance, and energy/use efficiency while coordinating with other departments to maintain top performance across the facility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years maintenance management experience with machinery, electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics and boiler apps.
• Commercial laundry experience required.
• Must manage a PM program within the industry or similar field.
• Proven supervisory/leadership ability to train a team of technicians.
• Strong 3-phase 230V electrical troubleshooting skills.
• PLC programming experience.
• Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs.
• Team player with initiative and commitment to quality improvement.

Job description

Client is searching for a Maintenance Chief Engineer for a commercial laundry operation in the Gary, IN area.

As a chief engineer you’re the leader of the maintenance department where you will develop and facilitate mechanical needs between all departments.

Job Summary

The Chief Engineer has overall responsibility for the daily repair and preventative maintenance of industrial textile processing equipment and facility maintenance and guides the maintenance team by providing training, direction and leadership. They will ensure all vendor services and contractors are compliant with the mission, objectives, policies and procedures of the Company as well as all regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safety is Priority #1. Ensure a safe working environment, and protection of all company assets
• Ensure the proper maintenance, preventive maintenance (PMs), repairs, and installations are conducted on all plant equipment.
• Supervise, direct, coordinate and assign daily work schedules to ensure accountability for the team.
• Develop and implement computerized methods, control systems and procedures to ensure a fully operational and productive preventive maintenance program, parts stockroom and inventory system.
• Monitoring and ensuring the efficient use of all utilities, practicing energy conservation through usage reduction and cost control.
• Recommend and communicate to senior management on capital expenditures, equipment, parts, supplies, and materials.

Requirements

• 3+ years Maintenance Management experience with specific knowledge of machinery, electricity, electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welder and boiler applications.
• Commercial laundry experience is required.
• Must have a preventive maintenance mindset, and experience managing a PM program in this industry or a similar industry.
• Previous supervisory/management experience is required. Proven ability to lead and train a team of maintenance technicians.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability of 3 phase 230 volt systems.
• PLC programming experience.
• Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs.
• Must be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
