Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design seeks a Consulting Chief Engineer to lead a multi-disciplinary team in Battle Management R&D across Autonomous Testbed and C2 domains.

You’ll define technical requirements, interface with customers and senior leaders, and ensure program success under sound engineering practices. A strong record in systems engineering and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a related STEM discipline with 16 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s with 14 years; OR PhD with 12 years.
• Experience related to air vehicle flight autonomy, mission autonomy, battle management C2 architectures/implementations, or networking and communications.
• Experience interfacing with customers and company leadership.
• Experience integrating multiple engineering disciplines across business units and with industry partners.
• Active US Government Secret or higher clearance (or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to travel up to 25% and obtain SAP and TS/SCI clearances.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for the Battle Management OU and provide technical direction.
• Define and control technical requirements and ensure cross-project coordination.
• Interface with customers and company senior leadership as principal technical contact.
• Oversee engineering performance within allocated cost and schedule.
• Chair the Technical Review Board (TRB) and mentor technical contributors.
• Support risk and opportunity management for technical performance.
