Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) seeks a Consulting Chief Engineer for the Battle Management OU in Redondo Beach, CA; El Segundo, CA; or Melbourne, FL. Lead a multi-disciplinary team delivering research & development across Autonomy, JADC2, and BAST domains, from early concepts to demonstrations.

You will drive technical direction, interface with customers and leadership, and ensure programs meet requirements and quality standards, while mentoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in STEM with extensive experience or advanced degrees as stated in the Basic Qualifications.
• Experience related to air vehicle flight autonomy, mission autonomy, and C2 architectures/communications tech.
• Experience interfacing with customers and company leadership.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP and TS/SCI clearance; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for the Battle Management OU and provide technical direction.
• Define and control technical requirements; ensure cross-project integration.
• Act as principal technical interface with customer and senior leadership.
• Ensure programs follow engineering principles and quality standards.
• Oversee technical performance within budget and schedule; chair the TRB.
• Support risk management by identifying risks; mentor technical contributors.
• Provide leadership in applying systems engineering tools and methods.
