Independent School District 197 at Heritage ESTEM Magnet School seeks a dedicated custodian and maintenance technician to ensure a safe, clean, and well‑maintained learning environment.
You will operate boiler and HVAC equipment, manage preventive maintenance, supervise custodial staff, and coordinate repairs. Applicants should have a high school diploma, appropriate licenses, and at least two years custodial experience; lifting, safety, and blueprint reading are required.

RATE OF PAY: $27.81/hour per the 2023-2025 salary schedule for local #70
This position is responsible for the overall custodial and maintenance functions in the building.
Grease, oil, vapors, engine noise, heat, working in cramped quarters are common in this work. Although minimized by safety practices, accident and physical hazards connected with mechanical maintenance and repair work are always present. Tasks involve lifting, stooping, bending, carrying and long periods of standing, sitting, walking, and shoveling.
This position works around small children requiring extreme vigilance in minimizing possible accidents and access to undesirable areas.
This position requires good physical conditioning, good cross body coordination, manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, strength, agility, endurance with no serious defect of vision, hearing or members. Must be able to lift 75# on a regular basis.
Persons in this position have the authority to assign and direct work performed by other classifications. They may also make recommendations and observations on the performance of other employees.
Persons in this position come into contact with administrators, teachers, students, public, contractors, engineers, staff, vendors, etc. Positive and clear communications, tact, diplomacy and the ability to establish good working relationships with building and professional staff is essential. Proven leadership skills are required, with the expectation to lead by example and create a positive work environment.
