Job summary

The Residence Inn by Marriott Garden City Long Island is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team and oversee maintenance and operation of the hotel. This hands-on leader will mentor others, drive operational excellence, and maintain the highest standards for guests and associates.

• Minimum 2 years in Building Maintenance Tech/Engineer or 4-5 years in related field.
• Currently managing at least one subordinate.
• Proficient knowledge of hand tools and maintenance duties.
• Time management capability to accomplish work within established parameters.
• Customer service focus and ability anticipate guest needs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest requests in a timely manner and provide great guest service.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties and procedures as needed.
• Lead a team of Building Maintenance Tech I and II to complete tasks as assigned by QUORE.
• Perform a variety of tasks assigned by the Assistant General Manager and General Manager.
• Perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting projects.
• Oversee all 3rd party outside contractors.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly.
• Always maintain a professional appearance.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

What will you be doing most days?

What are the requirements for this position?

• You have been currently working as a Building Maintenance Tech/Engineer for at least 2 years or at least 4-5 years of experience in a related field
• You are currently managing at least one subordinate
• You have proficient knowledge of hand tools and maintenance duties
• You have time management capability to accomplish work within established parameters
• You have a customer service focus and the ability anticipate guest needs

Physical Requirements For This Position

This is a physically demanding position. You must be comfortable standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting, and squatting for extended periods of time.

Travel Requirements

This position would require 10% travel.
