Job summary

Hilton Grand Vacations seeks a Chief Engineer at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort in St. Pete Beach, FL. Lead engineering operations including mechanical, electrical, HVAC maintenance, budget adherence, and staff development to support daily hotel functions.

You will work with the Resort Leadership Team to optimize maintenance programs, train staff, manage energy usage, and ensure safety and asset integrity across the property. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years of engineering experience in hotels or related industry.
  • 3-5+ years of managerial experience in the same or similar environment.
  • EPA – OSHA 10-30 – CPO certifications.
  • HVAC – Electrical – plumbing specific.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to write and speak English to communicate job functions to engineering staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Flexible Schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a regular walk-through to visually assess the building's structure and safety of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Assigns and verifies routine maintenance and repairs in public spaces, meeting rooms, guest rooms, outlets and grounds.
  • Hires, trains, supervise and disciplina staff under Engineering Department.
  • Adheres to corporate purchasing policies including outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules.
  • Maintains Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and trains other departments.
  • Informs General Manager and managers about building condition and proposals, and provides reports as requested.
  • Maintains supply of materials and equipment for daily operations and maintenance.
  • Keeps organized admin and filing systems within Engineering for correspondence and requisitions.
  • Maintains inventory and storage of tools, materials, and equipment in the shop.
  • Available to report to the property in emergencies requiring engineering expertise.
  • Performs other duties including coordinating guest requests and events.

The Chief Engineer advises and controls the Engineering operations within the resort, which includes the daily supervision of mechanical, structural, electrical, and other-related maintenance systems. In this position you will work with the Resort Leadership Team to develop maintenance programs; engage team members; maintain accurate budget; and find opportunities that better equip the organization to achieve its established annual business goals.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conducts a regular walk-through to visually assess the physical structure(s) of the building. The assessments are to determine the level of safety, efficient maintenance, and operation of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
  • Assigns and verifies completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, guest rooms, outlets, back of the house spaces and grounds. Assigns and verifies completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
  • Hires, trains, supervise and disciplines all staff under the direction of the Engineering Department.
  • Adheres to all corporate required purchasing policies and controls to include all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules.
  • Maintains effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs, conducting special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy at the property.
  • Informs the General Manager and other department managers, on a regular basis, regarding the specific and overall condition of the building, structure(s), related systems and equipment offering prudent, and cost-effective proposals for maintaining same. Has the equipment and training necessary to computerize the building information and provide reports as requested.
  • Maintains appropriate supply of materials and equipment to carry out the normal day to day operating and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintains organized and efficient administrative and filling systems within Engineering for the timely and accurate handling of correspondence, reports, requisitions for purchase, and other administrative requirements of the department
  • Maintains a well-defined, and organized system within the shop for the inventory, maintenance, and storage of all tools, products, materials, and equipment necessary to execute the required activities of the department.
  • Immediately available to report to the property in the event of any emergency which necessitates the skills and expertise of the Chief Engineer. By example such emergencies may include, but not be limited to, fires, power or other equipment failures, floods, lighting, earthquake, or other disasters of similar nature and magnitude.
  • Perform other duties as requested, such coordination and supervision of special guest requests for room and/or meeting space modification, construction of props for special functions and employee relations’ events.
What are we looking for?
