Job summary

Maine Course Hospitality Group is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to support daily hotel operations by performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and ensuring all systems run safely and efficiently. This role requires a mechanical and systems skill set across trades, with opportunity to contribute to guest comfort and property safety.

You will work closely with the General Manager to coordinate repairs, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate logs while upholding brand standards and safety

Qualifications

  • Maintenance/building operations experience; hotel experience a plus.
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical knowledge.
  • Strong problem-solving with diagnostic ability.
  • Independent work style with good time management.
  • Guest-focused communication skills.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor as needed.
  • Flexible schedule incl. weekends/evenings; after-hours on-call.
  • EPA or maintenance certifications helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance and repairs for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, equipment, and appliances.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and guest service needs promptly.
  • Inspect and repair locks, doors, alarms, lighting, and safety systems.
  • Assist with pool/spa operations and chemical testing (if applicable).
  • Maintain cleanliness of exteriors, grounds, and hotel equipment.
  • Coordinate repairs with the General Manager and department leaders; prioritize tasks.
  • Maintain logs, reports, and documentation of completed work.
  • Monitor supply inventory and communicate needs.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance, building operations, or facilities experience preferred (hotel experience a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of issues
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication skills and a guest-focused mindset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical labor as needed
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends or evenings
  • the ability to take and respond to "after hours" calls as they come up
  • EPA or other maintenance certifications are a plus but not required
