Agate Beach Inn & Sea Glass Bistro in Newport, Oregon seeks a hands-on Chief Engineer to operate and maintain the hotel\'s interior and exterior facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and grounds. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, life-safety monitoring, and adherence to brand standards.

A High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of related experience is preferred, with opportunities for advancement within this oceanfront property.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required OR 5 years related experience or training.
• Hospitality experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable of basic repair and maintenance skills including carpentry, grouting, painting, caulking, and blueprint reading.
• Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the entire hotel facility including building, grounds, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and the general upkeep of FF&E, grounds, pool, etc.
• Monitor life safety systems and utilities and ensure compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes to protect assets, guests and staff.
• Other duties as assigned

The Chief Engineer is responsible for operating and maintaining the property's exterior and interior facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, general equipment, and grounds.

Agate Beach Inn is Newport's premier oceanfront full-service hotel, featuring 148 renovated guest rooms, Sea Glass Bistro & Lounge, an indoor pool and spa, and more than 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The hotel underwent a major property-wide renovation in 2018 and has continued to receive significant upgrades and improvements, including new guest-room carpeting and televisions in 2026. Maintaining a large, full-service coastal property presents a wide variety of interesting challenges and requires a skilled, hands-on engineering team. • Responsible for maintaining the entire hotel facility including physical building structure, grounds, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment
• Preventative maintenance and repair of the hotel's mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the facility, FF&E, grounds, swimming pool, etc.
• Monitor life safety systems and utilities and administer the department on compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and associates.
