Job summary

MHG Hotels LLC is seeking a Chief Engineer to ensure the hotel operates smoothly and guest rooms and public spaces remain in top condition. You will oversee preventative maintenance, respond to repair requests, and manage building systems to provide a safe, comfortable stay for guests.

The role requires hands-on technical skills across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and facility operations, with a strong customer-service mindset and team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Respond and attend to guests repair requests.
  • Communicate with guest/customers to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and/or public spaces including inspecting mattresses, box springs, and bed frames.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical ability across HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building knowledge.
  • Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall/wood repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and cleanup of repair areas.
  • Inspect and repair grout and caulking.
  • Maintain pool, chemicals, and pool equipment.
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including plumbing and electrical components, TVs, and related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest repair requests and ensure timely resolutions.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces.
  • Inspect and repair building systems, electrical components, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain pool and pool chemicals/equipment to ensure safe operations.
  • Program TVs and manage inventory related to engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support smooth hotel operations.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $62,750

As Chief Engineer, you will:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and/or public spaces a required, including flipping/inspecting mattresses, box springs, and assembling bed frames
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • Display above average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability
  • Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, energy conservation, and/or general building
  • Perform all surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trip repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and complete thorough clean-up of painting or repair area
  • Inspecting and repairing grout and caulking
  • Maintain pool, chemicals, and pool equipment
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment (i.e. plunge toilets, change toilet seats, and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items. Program TV’s and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work
  • Follow company safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents injuries and unsafe work conditions
  • Protect company assets
  • Develop relationships with all departments and communicate regularly

Minimum Requirements:

The Chief Engineer role requires standing for long periods of time, or entire shift. Grasp, turn and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. Reach overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
