Job summary

White Lodging in Austin seeks a Chief Engineer to lead all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring exceptional guest and associate experiences while maximizing asset longevity.

You will manage a maintenance team, develop preventive maintenance programs, optimize equipment efficiency, and ensure safety and brand compliance.

This role reports to the Director of Engineering and requires strong leadership, budget discipline, and coordination with hotel departments.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising engineering/maintenance in hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to manage department budgets and capital expenditures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all engineering operations including building maintenance, mechanical systems, and energy management.
• Lead a team of maintenance professionals with training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, brand standards, and White Lodging policies.
• Manage department budgets, cost controls, and capital expenditure projects.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues and coordinate with other hotel departments.
• Report to the Director of Engineering.

What You’ll Do

• Manage department budgets, cost controls, and capital expenditure projects.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues and coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations.
• This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven leadership experience in engineering, facilities management, or maintenance, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Budget management and cost-control experience.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to train and lead a team.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and hotel operating systems.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
