Job description

Chief Electrician

Location: American Crystal Sugar Company – factory and satellite sites.

Hours: Rotating 12‑hour shift schedule.

We are hiring a Chief Electrician to plan, assign, and assist with factory, agricultural, and operations maintenance activities. Responsibilities include planning and directing daily electrical work, collaborating with foremen, vendors, and technical representatives, and ensuring compliance with National and State Electrical Codes, OSHA standards, and NEC.

Responsibilities

• Reason through the setup of routine and complex electrical projects and maintenance of processing equipment.

• Exercise judgment in selecting and using materials, tools, and equipment for electrical construction and maintenance.

• Perform electrical maintenance, new installations, and troubleshooting of equipment.

• Lead the daily activities of the electrical department and communicate effectively with factory personnel.

• Work safely with programmable controllers, distributed control systems, hardwired/software interlocks, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and related appurtenances.

• Use a basic understanding of the beet sugar process and ancillary services such as boiler house.

• Perform tasks under all weather conditions and at various elevations, yards, sugar bins, and satellite piler sites.

Qualifications

• Class A Masters license (electrician); must stay current with technical knowledge and state licensing requirements.

• Ability to read, understand, and apply electrical wiring diagrams, OEM manuals, schematics, blueprints, etc.

• Valid forklift operator’s license.

• Ability to furnish own hand tools and demonstrate safe use.

• Physical capability to perform all maintenance tasks and use safety equipment.

Compensation & Benefits
