Job summary

Sora Fuel seeks a Principal Electrical and Instrumentation & I&C Engineer to own electrical architectures, control narratives, and safety systems for test stands, skids, and pilots. You will manage lifecycles from concept through commissioning, serving as the regulator for NEC, NFPA 79, NFPA 2 compliance and for integration with PLC/SCADA networks.

You will lead cross-functional teams across Process, Mechanical, and Chemical engineering, driving safe, scalable automation for first-of-a-kind

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in electrical design and instrumentation/control systems engineering.
• FOAK project experience from ideation to fully operational hardware installations.
• Deep knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 79, NFPA 2.
• Hazardous locations (Class I, Div 1/Div 2 or Zone architectures).
• Ability to produce/approve single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, panel layouts, load lists, instrument indexes.
• Strong communication in fast-paced, collaborative teams.

Responsibilities

• Author, review, and approve full-lifecycle electrical infrastructure and I&C designs for test setups and pilot facilities.
• Develop control narratives, sequences, logic, and cause-and-effect matrices for safe process automation.
• Architect resilient electrical systems for unproven tech pathways and early deployment risk mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards; act as SME for NFPA codes.
• Define and map hazardous areas with explosion-proof and intrinsically safe designs.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, and Chemical teams to integrate instrumentation with PLC/SCADA networks.
• Lead on-site FAT/SAT testing, loop checks, interlock validation, and startup troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with EPCs and Third parties to deliver electrical panels and control systems.
