The Opportunity

e.Republic seeks an entrepreneurial, visionary, and execution-oriented Chief Editorial and Insights Officer to fundamentally reinvent our editorial organization and establish our content as an indispensable resource for government, education, and private-sector leaders.

Our mission is to empower government and education. Our vision is to be the trusted source for guidance, ideas, innovations, and relationships that help build government and education that works for everyone.

We are not looking for a traditional editor-in-chief. We seek a proven digital B2B media or other content executive who has built exceptional teams, transformed legacy operations, developed innovative content experiences, and significantly increased market relevance and engagement.

Essential Leadership Capabilities
1. Visionary Content Strategist
  • Anticipates emerging challenges, technologies, innovations, and market opportunities.
  • Creates indispensable, solutions-oriented content that helps leaders solve their most important problems.
  • Builds distinctive content franchises around influential thinkers, innovators, and practitioners.
  • Think beyond traditional journalism to multimedia, intelligence, interactive experiences, and emerging formats.
  • Has successfully transformed traditional media operations into modern, digital-first content organizations.
  • Can rapidly assess talent, redesign organizational structures, and recruit exceptional people.
  • Willing to challenge and eliminate outdated products, workflows, and practices.
  • Creates a high-performance culture characterized by urgency, curiosity, collaboration, and accountability.
3. Disciplined Builder and Operator
  • Translates ambitious ideas into actionable plans, clear priorities, and measurable results.
  • Demonstrates exceptional execution, follow-through, and resource management.
  • Builds teams that consistently deliver outstanding work.
  • Balances rapid innovation with operational discipline.
  • Demonstrates expertise in digital storytelling, newsletters, video, audio, and emerging media formats.
  • Understands SEO, AI-driven discovery, personalization, and changing content-consumption behaviors.
  • Uses AI to improve research, production, distribution, and productivity while protecting editorial integrity.
  • Uses audience insights and performance data to guide editorial decisions and experimentation.
5. Market-Facing Thought Leader
  • Exceptional interviewer, communicator, and public speaker.
  • Builds relationships with influential government, education, technology, and innovation leaders.
  • Comfortable serving as a visible voice for e.Republic through interviews, events, podcasts, video, and other channels.
  • Demonstrates genuine intellectual curiosity and an ability to recognize important trends before others.
6. Audience-Focused and Business-Aware
  • Understands how content creates audience loyalty, engagement, and trust.
  • Collaborates closely with enterprise audience development, product, marketing, events, and commercial leadership.
  • Recognizes the role of content in strengthening e.Republic's overall business without compromising editorial independence.
  • Measures success primarily through relevance, engagement, audience trust, and innovation rather than direct revenue generation.
Leadership Character
  • Authentic, approachable, confident, and low ego.
  • Intellectually courageous and willing to challenge conventional thinking, including senior leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial, competitive, energetic, and comfortable taking calculated risks.
  • Collaborative, generous with credit, and genuinely interested in developing people.
  • Brings humor, optimism, and a sense of fun to demanding work.
  • Passionate about helping government and education leaders solve problems.
  • More interested in building something exceptional than personal prestige.
First 90 Days
  • Assess the existing editorial organization, talent, products, and workflows.
  • Establish a compelling enterprise-wide content vision and transformation roadmap.
  • Identify critical talent gaps and begin organizational redesign.
  • Establish baseline engagement metrics and performance expectations.

First Six Months
  • Implement a substantially redesigned editorial organization.
  • Recruit key digital-first and multimedia talent.
  • Introduce new solutions-oriented content franchises and market-facing programming.
  • Establish AI-enabled workflows and modern editorial planning processes.

  • Demonstrated success leading significant organizational transformation.
  • Proven ability to build exceptional teams and innovative content products.
  • Strong operational leadership and measurable execution results.
  • Deep understanding of digital media, audience engagement, and emerging technologies.
Preferred
