Job summary

CIRES at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a Director for the Center for Education, Engagement and Evaluation (CEEE). This role provides visionary leadership, directing programs that connect environmental science with learners, educators, scientists and communities.

The Director oversees a diverse portfolio, leads grant development and fundraising, and collaborates with CIRES/NOAA partners to advance education and engagement outcomes across research, education and community impact.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Education, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or a closely related field.
• At least six years directing programs with grant management, budgeting, reporting.
• Proven experience supervising and mentoring professionals.
• Track record of securing external funding as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator.
• Ability to lead multiple geographically dispersed teams and manage multi-project portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, management and strategic vision for CEEE.
• Define priorities, implement initiatives, and oversee the project portfolio with Associate Directors.
• Foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
• Represent CIRES/CEEE with funding agencies, partners and collaborators.
• Lead grant development and fundraising across the portfolio.
• Oversee project budgets and staffing; ensure reporting and compliance.
• Foster partnerships to advance education, engagement and evaluation initiatives.
