Job summary
Mesabi Metallics Company LLC seeks a strategic leader to define and drive the digital transformation, automation, and IT/OT integration strategy for the integrated steel plant. The role focuses on AI-first operating model, modernizing automation, and enterprise-wide digital capabilities to boost efficiency, safety, and competitiveness.
The leader will build a high-performing team across IT, OT, data science, and automation engineering, while establishing governance and partnering with operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; MBA or technical master's preferred.
- Extensive senior leadership experience (25+ years) in IT/OT strategy, digital transformation, and plant automation.
- Strong background in steel or heavy manufacturing IT/OT integration and AI adoption.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-wide digital transformation programs at CIO level or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of MES, industrial automation, IIoT, and enterprise data platforms.
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML applications in industrial environments.
- Excellent executive presence and stakeholder management.
- Experience building cross-functional digital, IT, and automation teams.
- Capable of driving an AI-first operating model.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead enterprise-wide digitalization, automation, and AI strategy for the steel plant.
- Drive IT/OT integration across plant operations including MES, ERP, and data platforms.
- Champion AI-first operating model and implement AI/ML use cases across functions.
- Design and implement advanced plant automation systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC, IIoT).
- Develop and execute a digital transformation roadmap covering data, analytics, cybersecurity, and tools.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership to identify digitalization opportunities that improve productivity and cost.
- Build and lead a high-performing digitalization and automation team across IT, OT, data science, and automation engineering.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices for digital initiatives.
- Evaluate and select digital tech partners, automation vendors, and system integrators.
- Ensure robust cybersecurity across IT/OT environments.
- Lead change management to support digital adoption.
- Present strategy and impact to executives and the board.
