Job summary

The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life in Brooklyn seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising, major gifts campaigns, and donor stewardship. The role drives growth by building development capacity and engaging diverse donors across the Brooklyn and NYC catchment.

Reporting to the CEO with collaboration across leadership, the CDO will design capital campaigns, manage donor communications, and build CRM-driven fundraising operations to sustain long-term impact.

Qualifications

• Experience leading major gifts fundraising, including campaigns.
• Ability to design and manage capital campaigns and gift range charts.
• Strong donor-facing communication and storytelling abilities.
• Proven capability to build development systems and CRM-driven workflows.
• Experience partnering with CEOs, boards, and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising strategy and capital campaigns to support growth.
• Build development operations, including CRM, donor segmentation, and reporting.
• Engage CEO, Board, and stakeholders to drive philanthropy and partnerships.
• Develop major gifts programs, donor stewardship, and donor recognition initiatives.
• Oversee communications, events, and donor experiences to reflect our mission.
