Job description

LHH is currently recruiting for a Chief Development Officer for a permanent opportunity with our client in the Dallas area. This hire will be a key member of the client’s executive team, responsible for leading and expanding their development efforts to support the organization's mission and growth. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in non-profit fundraising, strategic planning, and building strong donor relationships. This role requires at least 10 years of non-profit development experience and a deep commitment to our client's cause.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to meet the financial needs of the organization, ensuring sustainability and growth.
  • Fundraising: Lead all fundraising activities, including major gifts, planned giving, annual campaigns, corporate partnerships, and special events.
  • Donor Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
  • Grant Writing: Oversee the identification, preparation, and submission of grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the development team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the development department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenses are monitored.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to the executive team and Board of Directors on development activities, progress, and outcomes.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the organization at community events, networking opportunities, and public speaking engagements to enhance visibility and support.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in non-profit development, with a successful track record in fundraising and donor relations.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Non-profit Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage donors and stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing a team.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to develop and execute effective fundraising strategies.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Dallas non-profit landscape and community is highly desirable.
  • Location: Ability to work onsite and travel to events in the DFW area.
