Job summary

GLIDE, a social justice organization in San Francisco, seeks a seasoned Chief Development Officer to lead a $50M-$100M+ campaign and build a best-in-class development operation. The CDO will guide philanthropic strategy, engage high-net-worth communities, and elevate GLIDE’s mission to alleviate poverty and injustice in Tenderloin.

The role requires deep fundraising expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to work non-traditional hours in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years' experience in highly responsible development positions.
• Experience leading 8+ figure campaigns.
• Proven ability to develop and sustain donor relationships with high net worth individuals.
• Extensive experience in corporate, foundation, and individual giving.
• Experience mentoring and growing development teams.
• Experience running development operations efficiently.
• Outstanding communication across platforms and audiences.
• Credibility representing the organization in a high-poverty community.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours (nights and weekends).

Responsibilities

• Design, direct, and execute a $50M-$100M+ comprehensive and capital campaign.
• Raise philanthropic revenue from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
• Engage with high net worth communities and manage a personal donor portfolio.
• Develop and empower the development team to high performance.
• Professionalize development operations to a gold standard.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy and co-manage the board with the CEO.
• Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for GLIDE.
• Partner with senior leadership and board members on strategy.
• Engage new constituencies and mobilize support.
• Lead effectively through organizational transition.
